What are the benefits of a counterfeit note detector?

How do the detectors read the notes?
The Euromate and the Duo have different methods of checking banknotes but both machines check high level security features on the note such as the magnetic features. These security features are not only invisible to the naked eye but they are hard to forge as the detectors are looking for very specific patterns and codes, not just the presence of the security features. This sophisticated mechanism means that the machines identify the denomination of the note as well as the authenticity.
How quickly can a note be tested?
The Duo will read a note in less than 0.3 of a second. The Euromate will read a note in less than a second.
How reliable are the counterfeit note detectors?
The counterfeit detection technology that is inside both the Duo and the Euromate has been approved by the European Central Bank.
What happens if the bank makes changes to the notes?
Tellermate try to work very closely with issuing banks to get advance warning of any planned changes to currency. The Duo in particular has upgradeable software so that in the event of a change made by one of the issuing banks it should be possible to purchase an upgrade to ensure it is compatible with new notes. To avoid unnecessary expense to customers the Duo is only upgraded in the event that notes change.
